(no subject)

Oh gosh was Genevieve tired. How did she ever party like this ALL THE TIME? Was this getting old? Is this what 25 did to you, it made you exhausted when you partied? She was officially no longer one of "the youths" and this was how she knew that.

No, no she refused to believe that she was over that particular hill just yet. She was definitely exhausted but it was more mental exhaustion than anything. It was the people part of the partying that had drained her, especially since it was more Mira's people than anything. Not that they didn't have mutual friends or that Mira's school and work colleagues weren't great but people took a lot out of Gen sometimes.

Celebrating Mira getting her Doctorate was not the normal sort of party that she was used to. It was a lot more talking and thinking about important things than just letting loose to the music. But that was okay, because she'd had a wonderful time tonight and she was pretty sure that Mira did as well. They'd waited long enough to celebrate, not wanting to jinx anything until it was super, duper official but it was worth the wait.

Mira had been so glowing and relieved and happy, it made Gen's heart happy to see her like that. It had been rough on both of them but the good kind of rough, the kind where they were able to grow closer and express their love more through that sort of deep, sacrificial love you could only really show when you went through hard times.

Gen's job paid well enough that Mira didn't have to take a job outside of what she did for her research and while it meant long hours for both of them it was so worth it. So worth it. It had been worth it to see how excited Mira and her friends and colleagues were and it was worth it now in the quiet of the night, the waves lapping quietly on her boat where they had held the party. Mira was just seeing the last of their guests off by walking them to the end of the dock and Gen stood on the boat waiting for her.

"Excuse me, but is there a doctor around?" she softly called out when Mira was close. "There's a beautiful woman in front of me that's taken my breath away. I might need mouth to mouth."

Lesbians In Cars Getting Coffee [For Mira]

Genevieve clutched nervously at the bag in her lap. She felt like she was going to throw up, which was stupid because she didn't really have anything to be afraid of. Well, she did, but no realistic fears. Even after two years of no longer living under a death sentence she still wasn't very good at dealing with fear. Before none of it really mattered because she was going to die soon anyway so who cared?

But now she cared. Now Mira cared. And that was scary because now Genevieve had things to lose. Taking a deep breath she forced herself to calm down. She still didn't have any actual evidence that she was more likely to have a seizure when freaking out but it felt that way to her. Now would be a really horrible time have a seizure too.

"Just give me like... two hours, brain," she prayed silently inside the car as she waited for Mira to come out. The plan was just to spend the evening driving around. That way they could talk and just be with each other without any distractions. Of course, Genevieve had super sneaky ulterior motives. So long as she didn't lose it first.

Open To All

The incessant beep... beep... of the machines got really old, really fast. Considering that's all she'd really been hearing the past few days she was really tired of them. She'd even just unplugged them once but that brought everyone rushing into her room, freaking out. So silencing them that way was a big no.

They'd finally let her have her phone so she could listen to music but the battery had run out on that and her mom had headed back home before Genevieve could ask her for a new one. She couldn't even text anyone to ask them to bring one because she had no phone and couldn't call because she didn't know anyone's numbers.

So it had been super, super boring on top of the beeping crazy. Nothing to do but think. Think about how she was not dead. And wasn't going to die, at least no faster than anyone else. She'd had one seizure since she was here and that super sucked. The doctors said she'd probably have them for the rest of her life but they were manageable, especially with medication.

Most people would be happy to be alive but Genevieve was... conflicted. She'd never planned on living a long, full life. She should be dead. Completely dead and passed on. But she wasn't and she had no clue how to deal with that. How were you supposed to deal with the potential to have hopes and dreams and long term plans when you never had that before?

Normally she just ran from that sort of thing because hey, she wasn't going to be around for very long. So no problem. Unless the problem was that now you were going to be around for a long time. So you couldn't really run.

"Ugh, this all sucks," she huffed, flopping back in her bed. "Stupid futures and stuff. Also, no one tells you how much weight you lose when you're in a coma. I feel like I'm down a whole cup size or something, this sucks."

[OOC: Genevieve is awake from her coma after saving the town! She's been awake for a few days but this is the first day non-family has been allowed to visit. Come say hi, even if you don't know her. Maybe you were visiting your sick aunt or something.]

Calming The Storm - Closed, One Shot

The storm was coming, it was coming and it was going to be bigger and badder than anyone here could understand. Everyone thought that it was here, that it was maybe going to get a little worse and that was it.

But they were so, so wrong. Something was building off the coast that even the meteorologists couldn't understand because they had no idea that it was going to hit Siren Cove and interact with whatever weather was going on here and be bigger than anything they could have imagined hitting the town. Siren Cove was going to be gone once the storm hit.

Oh sure, a few buildings would survive. The sturdier ones or the ones heavily protected by magic but most of them? They were going to be ruined if they were left standing at all, more likely to be reduced to wet toothpicks than anything inhabitable.

Genevieve couldn't let that happen. She'd seen once before what that sort of destruction was like with Katrina. She'd stood by once while a terrifying storm destroyed the city she loved and she wouldn't let it happen again. There were too many lives- too many good lives- that would be lost if she didn't do something. So Genevieve was going to let her powers of their leash.

She finished up the last of her texts to friends and family, wiping her eyes dry from the tears. It was stupid because once she stepped outside she as going to be soaked from the rain but she couldn't help it, it was reflex. Taking a steadying breath she as she closed her eyes and listened to the sound of the rain lashing against the windshield. It would have been soothing if it weren't some sort of harbinger of doom.

Opening her door and stepping out into the rain she used her magic to wrap the rain and wind around her. She didn't stop it but she accepted it, pulled it close like a blanket as she walked onto the beach to meet the ocean. Her senses extended out, tentatively at first as she fought he familiar struggle of not letting herself get lost in her power. It was futile though, nothing short of her all was going to stop what was happening.

Releasing herself and succumbing to her power was too easy. Even after a lifetime of holding it back letting herself stretch her limits was impossibly easy. And Genevieve felt it. She felt everything. The storm instantly snapped into focus on her mind. It was a massive, raging force of destruction but oddly it seemed so little now. Genevieve could feel every bit of weather all over the entire world. The dry heat of the deserts to the freezing polar caps and everything in between she could feel it. She could touch.

Her body crackled with energy, spurts of lightning flickering over her body as she felt her magic sore through the weather patterns of the globe. Frost licked at her fingertips even as a scorching heat warmed her back. Genevieve could feel it all. With a simple thought she could make it rain where the ground felt so thirsty or send a tornado ripping across the plains.

But she knew she didn't have much time. Already she could feel her left hand jerking and spasming. In just a few moments she would probably have another seizure and she didn't think she would be waking up from this one. There was so much magic in her, so much rushing through and it felt amazing.

"Stop," she said, her voice barely more than a whisper against the rain and the wind but that didn't matter. It was hers, it was hers and it would do what she commanded it to. And Genevieve commanded the storm over and around Siren Cove to stop. There would be no flooding, no destruction, no loss of life. Reaching out she spread the energy of the storm across the globe. Anywhere it threatened to change things too much she gave a nudge or a push to right the weather.

She could feel the storm around her lessen and she smiled. She had done it. What had been the makings of a disaster of epic proportions had been reduced to nothing more than a now fading summer storm. But she couldn't let go now, she couldn't stop her own flood that she had created. The power was too much, she was drowning in it. It was so beautiful though, to feel everything she felt. Even the bad parts, the parts where they had hurt the weather. She could fix it too, she could fix it if she just reached out and-

And everything went black.

[Hooray, the storm threatening Siren Cove has been stopped! Boo, Genevieve put herself in a coma doing so. Look for a hospital thread from her in a week or so.]

Party Time!

Genevieve had a boat. She had a really, really nice boat that she bought for a dollar. She'd had to sell some of what was in there to pay for the registration and such but it was worth it. Genevieve wasn't sure just how long she was going to be able to keep the boat so she was going to have fun with it while she could.

Which meant a party. Despite the fact that it was winter, she was going to have a party on the beach and her boat. It was never too cold for a weather witch and after a week of research and feeling out with her magic, she'd managed to get the area around her boat (she'd never get tired of saying her boat) warm enough so that swimming and swim suits were possible.

Of course, all her use of magic had her arm acting up. It had started with her hand cramping and twitching. Whatever Luke had done to her nervous system had worked for a while but now the pain and the shakes had started working up her whole arm from her use of magic. Well, she had never planned on living forever.

Music was pumping through the amazing sound system of the yacht and she had drinks and food up there was well. On the beach nearby she had chairs and towels for people to relax on. She'd invited everyone that she knew and told all those people to invite their friends as well. Basically she had no idea who might show up but she was looking forward to it.

Yacht. Music. Drinks. Food. It was definitely a party.

[Everyone welcome! Tag in and tag around. Everyone will get at least a tag from Genevieve, which is awesome.]

Closed to Coop

Genevieve was in a great mood today. She had been picking up some odd jobs here and there during the holidays so she actually had enough money to buy some people some presents, which was nice. The holidays were always a potentially miserable time, depending on if she and her mom had enough money to actually get presents or anything. This year, even though she wasn't going to be able to spend it with her mom, was a good year. She had enough money for presents, she had good friends to spend it with, plus she was feeling pretty awesome about herself.

After making sure that Coop's gift was visible in any of the bags she carried into the house she dumped them on the counter before listening carefully. There were no sounds of people getting it on, and Coop was rarely quiet during that sort of thing, so she was pretty sure she wasn't interrupting anything.

"I win!" she called out. "Coop, are you home? You'd better be because I win. I am the Sex Queen. I want a crown or something."

[Circle of Sirens] Le Grand Mort

For such a small down, a lot of messed up stuff happened in Siren Cove. It wasn't that New Orleans was a stranger to disappearances or blackouts anything like that, it was just that you didn't expect that sort of thing in coastal New England towns. Or maybe she should expect that, maybe it happened all the time and everyone just hushed it up kind of like they did here.

It was enough to make Genevieve wonder if she should head back home. It wasn't that she was afraid, that wasn't it at all. It just made her wondered if it really mattered if she stayed here or went back home. Genevieve liked it in Siren Cove but she liked it back in New Orleans too. Of course, she was cursed to die if she ever went back home, but she was relatively certain the curse wasn't that effective. It seemed like just as risky to stay here as it was to go back home.

It was confusing enough to warrant a late night walk along the beach. She made sure to keep Coop's house in sight and carry a flashlight with her. Besides, if anyone thought they were going to kidnap Genevieve they had another thing coming. She didn't go down easily, not at all.

She'd just about given up her contemplating when a fog started to roll in off the ocean. Fog wasn't unheard of in New England but it annoyed her all the same. She wanted to see the stars and Coop's house, not have to deal with this. Luckily, she was just the witch to take care of it.

The magic came to her easily. Too easily as it always did, whatever was wrong with her allowing her to access far more of it than she ever safely could control. She only needed a slight breeze to blow the fog away but "slight" and "breeze" were never in her magical repertoire. It was nothing short of a howling with that blew across the beach to push the fog away. Her hand twitched a bit, cramping up, as it often did when she used her magic these days. A byproduct of the spell that Luke had cast on her to trap her body's degeneration in one area.

Tonight it was especially bad though, her whole hand ached, worse than it ever had. She tried to release her magic and found that she could. She couldn't turn it off and her hand, her hand felt like it was going to shatter and then her entire body spiked in pain and...

Nothing. Genevieve felt nothing. She couldn't feel any pain, she couldn't feel the beating of her own heart, there was nothing. That's when she realized that she was dead. Or dying, at least. She was dying and her first thought about it was, finally. Ever since her magic had manifested this had been hanging over her head. Almost all her life she had this hanging over her head and she never knew when it was going to happen.

Well, now it was happening and Genevieve felt relieved. No pain, no fuss, she just sort of drifted away...

At The Beach [Open]

Genevieve had decided that Siren Cove wasn't all that awful. So far her experiences with the town had been pretty positive although she wasn't sure how long that would last. It was small and compared to New Orleans it wasn't much but she thought it had potential.

Today she had decided to see what the beach was like. Fortunately she had come from a beach side town and so she already owned a swimsuit, a nice red eye-catching bikini, so she didn't have to use any of her meager savings on it. Unfortunately the beach was far, far too crowded for her tastes.

Luckily she could do something about that. Standing at the top of the sand Genevieve reached out with her power, feeling the energies of the weather, the raw natural power of it right at her fingertips. She gathered the storm clouds to her, commanding all that energy and bending it to her will. Big things like this were easy, the more power it took the easier she could control it. A steady rain didn't take any of the fine control she lacked, although there was always the risk that she could put too much into it and the storm would get away from her.

This time she managed to hang onto it though, drenching the beach goers until the majority decided waiting it out wasn't the wisest choice. Once most of them had cleared out Genevieve grinned and pushed the storm away. For one terrifying moment she struggled with it, the storm threatening to turn into something bigger and more devastating, her own power feeding it and giving it a greater life than she had intended.

Genevieve was every bit as stubborn as she was wild though and she wrestled control of it back before dispersing it, breathing a sigh of relief as the sun shone brightly on the beach once again. Smiling smugly to herself, Genevieve went to claim some now empty prime beach real estate to work on her tan and go for a swim.

Plotting Post!

Genevieve is a weather witch newly in town from New Orleans to live with her cousin. She's got a chip on her shoulder and is likely to get you in trouble but she pretty much guarantees you'll enjoy yourself.

She needs friends and also someone to help her control her abilities, because she's pretty sure they'll eventually kill her. Which would be sad.

Profile!

CHARACTER NAME: Genevieve Wells (That's John-vee-evh not Jen-uh-veev)

CHARACTER AGE: 21

SPECIES:  She's a witch!

BACKGROUND & HISTORY:
The Wells family comes from a long line of hedge witches, never being particularly powerful but not exactly one trick ponies either. Her mother, a bit of a rebel, moved away from the rest of the family at a relatively young age to live in New Orleans, seduced by the idea of living in such a wild, magical place. It was there that she met the love of her life, a roguish college drop out who was absolutely going to be the next Curt Cobain. They had three blissful months together before he died of an overdose, leaving Genevieve's mother newly pregnant.

With a baby on the way, her mother decided she needed to make some changes in her life. Too proud to return home she put herself through nursing school, taking only the shortest of breaks to give birth Genevieve. From the rebellious wild child to a responsible mother, her transformation was impressive.

Unfortunately, Genevieve was every bit the headstrong, defiant woman that her mother was.  Read more... )
